TERRA receives first-ever "Small Business Spotlight Award"
Monday, August 14, 2006HomeStreet Bank today announced TERRA Resource Group is a winner of the HomeStreet Bank Small Business Spotlight Award, offered in conjunction with KOMO News Radio (KOMO). The program recognized five small businesses of 100 employees or less, located in the Puget Sound region, that demonstrate significant community involvement and are a great place to work.
According to a HomeStreet spokesperson, there were many strong nominations and judging was tight. HomeStreet Bank?s press release stated that judges selected TERRA ?for its innovative efforts to make itself a great company to work for. Employees receive three days of paid community service each year to encourage volunteerism. They also are provided with options for flexible work schedules, telecommuting, job development and leadership development training.?
?The HomeStreet Bank Small Business Spotlight Awards champion businesses that go the extra mile to be a great place to work and make a significant contribution to their community,? said Joan Enticknap, president of HomeStreet Bank. ?It takes a special something for businesses to put as much attention on the workplace and the community as these five have done. We are happy to be able to help give them the recognition they deserve.?
TERRA President Betty Neighbors stated ?On behalf of the owners and managers of TERRA we are most grateful to HomeStreet Bank for this honor and want to thank all of our employees who make TERRA a great place to work.?
The award recipients will attend a special evening of baseball in a luxury suite at Safeco Field on August 23, 2006, when the Seattle Mariners play the New York Yankees. Winners will meet Mariners broadcaster Dave Niehaus and receive a plaque commemorating the evening. Each business will also be profiled on a KOMO Small Business Spotlight segment and recognized on the KOMO and HomeStreet Bank web sites.
